Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: What is mentor coaching and why is it required?

Mentor coaching is a structured process in which an experienced, ICF-credentialed coach provides feedback and guidance on your coaching practice. It helps you develop coaching competencies, refine your skills, and prepare for ICF credentialing. Mentor coaching is a mandatory requirement for both ICF ACC and PCC applications.

Q2: How many mentor coaching hours do I need for my ICF credential?

The International Coaching Federation requires a minimum of 10 hours of mentor coaching for both ACC and PCC credential applications. At least three of these hours must be completed individually. We help participants structure their mentorship sessions to meet these requirements.

Q3: What is the difference between 1:1 and group mentor coaching?

1:1 mentor coaching provides personalised feedback tailored to your coaching style, development needs, and credential timeline.

Group mentor coaching allows participants to learn alongside peers, gain diverse perspectives, and receive feedback in a small cohort setting. Many coaches choose a combination of both formats.

Q4: Do I need to be enrolled in a JLWC Academy programme to join?

No. The mentorship programme is open to aspiring and practising coaches, whether you are enrolled in our WSQ coaching course, our ICF coaching certification programme, or have completed coach training elsewhere.

Q5: Who will be my coaching mentor?

Mentor coaching is led by Dr Jade Kua, founder and Principal Coach of JLWC. She holds the ICF Master Certified Coach (MCC) credential, the highest level of certification awarded by the International Coaching Federation.
